What should I expect from therapy?

There is no one definition of therapy & there are many different approaches to therapy. We consider therapy to be a process by which you develop a greater understanding of yourself & learn ways of coping with many of life’s challenges.

In attending therapy, you will be asked a number of questions about the problems & difficulties you are experiencing. In talking about these with your therapist we will help you to:

  • identify your main problem areas
  • develop an understanding about what is causing these problems
  • set goals for treatment
  • learn strategies & new ways of coping &
  • set tasks for you to do between sessions to reinforce what you have learned

This is all designed to help you get well & stay well for the future.
